San Juan Chamula

The village of San Juan Chamula is about 10 miles from San Cristóbal yet is a world unto itself. Tsotsil speaking Mayan people have lived here for centuries and they practice a religion that mixes very old Mayan practices with Catholicism. Daily tours of the village start at the cross in front of the Cathedral in San Cristóbal at 9:00am.
