San Miguel de Allende, the Heart of Mexico
Photos from 2010 and 2012

San Miguel de Allende is the birthplace of the 1810 Mexican Revolution. Every building and every street witnessed the passing of great heroes willing to die for freedom from Spanish oppression. The city is famous for the lovely year-round climate and the hospitality of its people. Over 10,000 expats from many countries have retired there and many are active in social programs like the bilingual library, midwifery training, feeding the poor, and utility improvements in the small villages surrounding the city.

Every year in March the remaining members of the Chichicmeca people dance in the streets of San Miguel to celebrate their conversion to Catholocism.
